Goal of position was to leverage Emerson's strategic supplier relationships to improve delivery, quality and cost positions for all units.Day to day activities included management of e-Sourcing Events, integrating suppliers into new product development, coordinating Lean manufacturing projects and working with global commodity mangers to improve payment terms with key suppliers.Biggest contribution was the development of a report that provides the inventory position, consumption variability, receipt frequency, availability and regionalization status for every part number across Emerson. Report was developed using the R programming language to quickly manipulate existing data in ways that were not possible with existing tools. The report gives management a comprehensive look at where pull techniques will be effective and where consumption variability and long supply chains are impacting the ability to fill orders.
