About Dan Gower
Deputy Head Teacher with a demonstrated history of working across all year groups in a range of different capacities. Have experiences in both the private and state sector.Primarily a Key Stage 2 teacher with experiences in leading math, sports, RE, computing, playground, duties rotas, trips and co-curricular lead. Being math co-ordinator, I have had to conduct a whole school review of math and formulate an achievable and strategic action plan to ensure the improvement and longevity throughout the school. This has involved organising staff training, reviewing progress, auditing resources and liaising with staff to make sure consistency in the curriculum. In my co-curricular role I am responsible for the continuation of the schools club and trip offering. Having improved the offer of clubs and the variety of trips on offer, whilst being understanding of the current economic climate, continues to be a strength.I have also held head of sport, RE, Computer Science, PSCHE and playtimes. Have previously held Assistant Houseparents roles dealing with safeguarding, communications and behaviour within a mixed boarding house for three years. In addition, have introduced and maintained rugby across the prep and senior school, making sure the safety aspect is correct and growing from three children to three fully fledged teams competing competitively. This resulted in developing my skills with Bath Rugby and in the PDP programme. Furthermore I have achieved the Gold Award for the school games mark. Skilled in Behavior Management, Leadership, Accreditation, Rugby, and Fixtures. Strong education professional with a PGCE focused in Education from University of Gloucestershire.

As co-curricular I have been in charge of clubs, trips, inter and intra sport competitions and rotas for staff. I have increased the uptake of clubs to 92% of children from Reception to Year 6 taking part in at least one club a week. In addition, I have increased the club offering from 8 clubs a week to 28 clubs offered from Monday to Thursday. I have and continue to lead of trips, creating policies for rosy assessments and mapping the coverage of these across the school. I’m addition to the this, I have also led on overseas residential and am experienced in organising these to sister schools in Spain.

I have been at Stonar teaching in Year 3 and 5 for two years now. I have also been a houseparent in one of the boarding house for 3 years. In this role, I interact with all ages from Nursery to Sixth form. In addition to this, I have been directing the introduction of rugby across the school, with huge success. Running focus World Cup weeks with a tournament for all children to inter school fixtures.Within the prep school, I have gained accreditation for our sports scheme of work gaining a Gold Award for the school games mark. In addition, I have been leading the co-curricular activities for the school. Taking us from a paper based system to a online version and increasing the participation rate from 56% to 98% across the year.

Head Of Rugby
Playing a vital role in the introduction of rugby into the school. This involved starting off training programmes, kit reviews, safety policies, pitches, fixtures and community engagement. Went from 3 children signed up to an after school club to 3 fully fledged teams as well as a curriculum designed around the sustainability of the sport in the school.

Working closely with the Head of House to ensure and safe and happy boarding house. This involved parent communication, safeguarding, planing events and trips and much more. Completed this role alongside being a full time class teacher, which was a challenge, but a rewarding experience.
