• Headed up, recruited and grew a new substation design section to work alongside UK Power Networks as their integrated partner to support a £10m per annum construction portfolio, with successful completion of over 80 design projects ranging from 11kV to 132kV.• Set up, developed and managed a commercially successful in-house panel building business with the capability to build control and protection panels across all voltages. Since conception in 2010 we have designed and built over 120 units.• Successfully instigated a development programme to train college leavers into 132kV designers.• Responsible for ensuring the client’s substation feasibility and detail protection design requirements are planned, co-ordinated and managed by using well engineered solutions.• Ensuring that Health and Safety legislation, CDM, temporary works, clients and industry standards are adhered to from the definition stage through to construction.• Agree and secure design timescales and budgets with client, and continue to monitor the budgetary spend and progress on a regular bases.• Provide mentoring and technical support for first reports, project managers, site supervisors, commissioning engineers and outsourced contract designers.

• Control, manage and accountable for a £2m - £6m per annum portfolio of NAMP and customer connection projects, on a scale of up to and including 132kV, from inception to completion.• Ensure that projects are properly planned, designed, budgeted, co-ordinated and managed with full consideration to quality, cost and time whilst maintaining the highest levels of safety and environmental management.• Manage commercial arrangements with contractors to ensure that contractual arrangements are met and that cost controls are in place.• Forecast resources and material requirements, monitor project costs and delivery, manage contractor performance and provide meaning full and effective reporting on a monthly basis.• Responsible for ensuring that staff and contractors are fully aware of all safety issues and adopt safe working practices.

• Responsible for the preparation of electrical, civil and mechanical designs on a range of medium to large-scale projects, ensuring that the projects are delivered to quality, cost and time without compromising technical and safety standards.• Carry out all “Designer” duties as required by the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.• Providing Design Technicians, Infrastructure Planners and Project Managers with technical advice ranging from the specification stage through to procurement of specialist items of plant.• Assisting Project Managers during the construction phase, answering contractor queries and providing additional information necessary to facilitate the successful design and implementation of projects to current standards.• Actively been involved with the working group tasked with updating the company design standards.• Design portfolio includes working on both NAMP and customer connection projects up to and including 33kV.
