-Led a 45-person organization seeking to source low cost, reliable gasoline, distillate and biofuel supply for Motiva’s Shell-branded and unbranded network of wholesale distributors.-Pursued the highest value outlets for Motiva’s production of transportation fuels produced at three US Gulf Coast refineries. -Managed hydrocarbon inventories and working.

Led a 20-person organization in the pursuit of optimizing Motiva’s integrated hydrocarbon supply chain through the development of advantaged logistics, by growing revenue with third parties, and by developing industry leading destination terminal solutions for U.S. ethanol producers.

Led an organization of 430 employees responsible for the safe and efficient operations of a network of 42 refined product distribution terminals located throughout the eastern third of the U.S.

Led a team managing a portfolio of third party customers across a network of 48 refined product distribution terminals in the Eastern US. Responsible for analyzing and executing distribution asset portfolio acquisition, divestment and JV transactions.

Helped establish a new proprietary trading company from scratch including recruitment, government licensing, and implementation of a robust controls/compliance framework, supporting IT systems, service contracts and accommodation. Successfully established structural domestic and international product blending/trading positions around clean product tankage.

Managed Shell’s US gasoline program and profit trading business of over 700,000 barrels per day covering East Coast, Gulf Coast, Midwest and West Coasts. Started a successful trading for profit program including defining authorities and controls, implementing information systems upgrades, and attracting and coaching staff members.

Managed Shell’s US downstream petroleum price risk of over 3,000,000 barrels per day covering crude oil, feedstocks and refined products.Designed and implemented a statistically based refinery margin hedging program, and a portfolio approach to petroleum price risk.

Managed Shell’s US West Coast product distribution/delivery facilities in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, San Jose, Colton and San Diego.Staff of 100 included terminal managers, operators and tank truck drivers.

Managed Shell’s US West Coast crude oil supply and trading business of over 250,000 barrels per day including optimizing the trading and scheduling of Shell’s Californian crude production, and the purchase of Alaskan, Canadian and other foreign crude oils for Shell’s refining system.

Successfully managed a “for profit” energy derivatives portfolio during the highly volatile period including the Gulf War.

Provided staff support to senior downstream business management on long and short term business planning including capital budgeting and income and expense forecasting.

Purchase, sale and exchange of gasoline, jet fuel and distillate in Shell’s largest domestic trading area.
