About Dan Guire

I studied liberal arts and physical sciences at college while gaining cell culture, immunochemistry and analytical skills working in a large research laboratory on campus. That practical experience led to a career in hybridoma cell culture and monoclonal antibody technology, and on to where I am now at ISurTec. Here besides periodic cell culture work my focus is on surface modifications of biomedical and analytical devices. More specifically protein passivation and immobilization, water, oil and stain repellent coatings, photo- and heat-activated crosslinkers, and lubricious coatings for catheters, guidewires, etc. I've been enabled here to participate in turning concepts into real and useful devices and processes, which has long been a personal goal of mine.
