To my surprise, seeing two-dimensionally all the time transformed me with an unexpected superpower. I’ll never forget the evening that my dad heard that his cancer had returned full force, and my grief poured itself into my all-time favorite photograph: rocks glowing in the sunset on the beach. That day I realized that I could see the two-dimensional potential of something which others took for granted.
