I currently lead an elite team of engineers designing the most innovative and compelling consumer electronics in the world. I negotiate complex technical trade-offs throughout the product design cycle. However, my core strength is creative problem solving and innovation to not just find the most optimal trade-off, but to come up with new solutions that increase the design and solution space. This is truly the key to be successful at implementing the elegant complexity of the iPhone.At Apple I have been involved in the full development cycle of 5 iPhones and contributed to many more. My role has grown from being a senior engineer implementing complex mechanical designs to managing a team of high performing engineers and building expertise within my organization.During my career at Motorola, I had been involved with the development of eleven different products ranging from flip phones, slider phones, and PDAs. I was a technical team lead for a number of products, and worked as the lead engineer and a technical liaison for a Chinese mechanical engineering team. I designed Injection Molded Plastic, 2-Shot Plastic, Formed Sheet Metal, Insert Molded Plastic/Metal, Glass Lenses, Flexible Printed Circuits, and Magnesium Die-cast parts. While there I watched, from the inside, the evolution of the cellphone industry go from simple analog phones to full mobile computers. I attended a Masters program at Northwestern University on Product Development (http://www.mpd.northwestern.edu/). This program has provided me with a core knowledge and skills needed at every level of the product development process. A successful product is not just determined by the efficiency of execution but, more importantly, by its ability to satisfy unmet needs in the marketplace.
