Perform the SLS Level 2 Integrated Avionics and Software (IAS) Test and Verification Lead function for NASA/MSFC. Provide senior system and avionics/software engineering and integration expertise to the SLS Level 2 Avionics and Software Department Lead Engineer (DLE) as a Sub-DLE conducting all horizontal and vertical integration for verification and test across the team, other SLS Level 2 disciplines, SLS Elements, external organizations and stakeholders. Responsible to plan,coordinate/oversee the execution of the Level 2 Avionics and Software verification/validation testing for the upcoming EM-1 flight.

Senior Systems and Integration Engineer and Delivery Order Manager for the SLS Launch Vehicle/Spacecraft Adapter (LVSA) Delivery Order. Lead a team of engineers and subcontractors to perform all of the DDT&E activities (post-PDR), cross program integration, manufacturing, assembly and delivery of this human-rated hardware end item. Responsible for customer coordination and interface, horizontal/vertical integration, planning, schedule development/maintenance, support of major milestones, risk management, quality control, change processing, ground safety analysis/reporting and project monitoring/control. Oversaw manufacturing shop activities and activities at major suppliers. Developed and negotiated multiple Space Act Agreements/Annexes (SAAs) partnering with MSFC Advanced Weld Facility (AWF) to conduct assemble operations using Friction Stir Welding (FSW) technologies for test and flight hardware.

Leveraged technical experience and knowledge in International Space Station (ISS) payload engineering/integration and system capabilities to lead a study effort to adapt a commercial off the shelf hardware for technology development/improvement for application on the ISS. Lead the Microbial Monitoring System (MMS) study activity including flight/ground operations concepts, trade studies, engineering discipline requirements/interfaces identification, prototype concepts, safety assessment, failure evaluation, risk management, and hardware development plan and coordinated with all stake holders (MSFC, JSC, KSC, JPL and hardware provider).

Senior Avionics Systems Integration Engineer (including Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead and NASA/MSFC Space System Department Co-Lead for Upper Stage Avionics and Software). Duties including the overall systems engineering/integration implementation across all parts of the Avionics and Software subsystem. Conducted the Upper Stage (US) Avionics Preliminary Design Review (PDR). Provide the leadership for both vertical and horizontal integration efforts for Avionics and Software. Provide detailed status for engineering line management, Chief Engineers and Project Office personnel as well as the overall Avionics and Electrical Integration team. Actively managing various Task Orders awarded to Teledyne Brown Engineering by MSFC under both the Systems Development and Operations Support (SDOS) contract and Specialized Engineering and Project Support (SEPS) Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs). Task Orders valued at >$16M and staffing of 20 – 25 each. Provided task leadership, expert technical support, personnel management, hardware development/delivery, sub-contractor management, budget/schedule planning and project execution/tracking.

Engineering Manager and Technical Lead for Expedite the Processing of Experiments to Space Station (EXPRESS) Rack Payload Engineering Integration. Responsibilities included the management of the engineering integration team under sub-contract to Boeing. Task included development of the EXPRESS Rack payload integration process and then implementation of these processes over several ISS flights. Also managed the EXPRESS rack-to-United States Lab integration efforts. All this was performed under subcontract to the Boeing Company. Also managed the engineering integration tasks including budget and deliverable schedule(s) including EVMS.

Managed and was technical lead for development/manufacturing of Nuclear Thermal Rocket Environmental Simulator (NTRES) This was the one-of-a kind “N Stamped” pressure vessel for evaluation of potential nuclear propulsion candidate fuels. Managed and lead the team that procured, manufactured and certified the vessel for use by MSFC Propulsion Research Lab for experimentation in nuclear powered propulsion.

Lead Systems Integration Engineer for the First and Second United States Microgravity Laboratory (USML). Lead all of the payload integration activities for this dedicated Space Shuttle Flight for the Spacelab Module. Integrated the complement of experiments, located across the United States, into the Space Shuttle and Spacelab Module. Coordinated with external integration organizations from Kennedy Space Center (KSC), Johnson Space Center (JSC), Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC), Glenn Research Center (GRC), NASA Headquarters, JSC Flight Crew Office and JSC/KSC Payload Safety Review Panels (PSRPs) to successfully complete all requirements for flight. Conducted/Coordinated all major milestone reviews from System Requirements Review (SRR) thru Flight Readiness Review (FRR). Developed Safety Data Packages and Hazard Analyses for both ground and flight and presented these to the PSRP for approval. Coordinated all ground hardware integration and testing activities with Kennedy Space Center (KSC). Coordinated all late load, early access and overall stowage activities with Kennedy Space Center (KSC), Vehicle Integration and Test Team (VITT), Johnson Space Center (JSC) middeck integrators and Flight Crew Office.
