Dan joined Mortenson in 1986 and serves as the company’s chief executive officer. He is responsible for executive management, strategic business planning, succession planning, resource management, and overall business leadership. Through the years, Dan has served many roles for the company including estimating, operations, business development and senior leadership. He was promoted to vice president in 1996, senior vice president in 1999, chief operating officer in 2008 and president in 2015. Dan has been involved with many of the company’s new businesses including offices in Milwaukee, Chicago, Phoenix and Portland. He was also instrumental in launching the Renewable Energy business and growing the Development Group. Dan’s leadership is reflective of Mortenson’s values: Trust, Responsibility, Safety, Teamwork, Service, and Stewardship. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Engineering from North Dakota State University.Dan is active on several Boards including Fastenal, the Greater MSP and the ACE Mentor Program. He is a member of the Construction Industry Round Table and the Advisory and Advancement Board for the College of Engineering at North Dakota State University. Dan is a former board member of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, the Lean Construction Institute and Hazeltine National Golf Club.
