Created the $7B bank’s insurance businesses: bank agency with five integrated sales channels: data base marketing directly, call center insurance unit, transaction sales by the investment counselor sales force, consultative sales by insurance advisors and 300 newly-licensed platform bankers in 177 community offices in three states. Products include auto, homeowners, LTC, term and whole life, mortgage life & disability, wealth transfer, estate and business planning, P&C business coverage.

Directed the thrift’s insurance businesses: $30 MM income Savings Bank Life Insurance entity, the largest in New York, $3B in force, $2.4 MM new sales, 391 platform bankers, 80,000 policy service center; and Agency subs, with $11 MM premium sales in 1996 in life, health and credit.

• Managed support, compliance and operations: $260 MM in sales, 15 carriers, 2,000 brokers.• Boosted sales 45% to $260 MM in 1988 over 1987 with a 17% increase in the broker participation rate due in large part to the change in perception about selling insurance.• Slashing the paper-intensive process and modifying the firm’s trading system, brokers were able to deliver the policy in 50% of the time and obtain their sales credits immediately.• Provided marketing support for a new variable universal life and proprietary annuity.
