About Dan Kistler

To summarize I am a collection of a wide range of experiences and interests, passions, and skills—a tool collector. The tools I have picked up over the years have enabled me to tackle all kinds of new work environments and projects and allow me to enjoy the entire process of developing ideas/concepts and seeing them take their form. While my primary job at the moment is teaching I still find time for woodworking, art, design, and photography. I have 25 years teaching experience—art and graphic design at Principia College. I have designed and directed or co-directed five study abroad programs to Turkey, Italy, and Greece. And over the past 10 years of travel to Greece I have now lived outside of the United States for over one year. Prior to teaching I worked for ten years as a commercial artist/illustrator in the Detroit, Michigan area. Working in Detroit I learned all the "old school" techniques but I have made the transformation to the digital world of photography, design, and illustration.
