Police Sergeant
CurrentI plan, assign, review, supervise and evaluate the work of a unit of Patrol Officers on an assigned team or unit within a division; Direct field operation officers during searches, rescues, disasters, suspect apprehension, and as required coordinate these operations with allied agencies; patrol the city and assists with the more difficult calls and the protection of life calls; Train Officer’s in all aspects of law enforcement, in new procedures and actively participates in in-service training programs; Supervise and assist Police Officers responding to calls and insure that patrol activities are conducted in accordance with office rules, regulations, and coordinate these activities in concert with a communications center; Takes roll, inspect subordinates for proper uniform and equipment and brief subordinates on departmental directives and the enforcement of local, state and federal laws; Perform technical work in the analysis and evaluation of information contained in official reports; prepare and/or edits comprehensive reports; Take charge of assigned special activities and perform the more complex or technical assignments throughout the department; Liaisons with the District Attorney’s Office on work in progress, completed reports and submits cases for review and filing of criminal charges; Conduct internal affairs investigations and other duties as assigned.
