I started my engineering career in Baltimore after getting my degrees at UMD (fear the turtle, sometimes). My classwork was focused on the practical classes of advanced steel, concrete, timber, connections, etc. which still proves invaluable today. I moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan (incredible summers and outdoors) before settling in Kentucky which has now completely become my home.At work I relish constructability, architectural detailing, and preserving old buildings; things that I get to do more and more as my career matures - with significant projects like our state capitol renovation and many new builds both in my state of Kentucky and around the country. I now feel like a mentor to our local industry, and started my career here at an opportune time to remember many things passed on from my predecessors.I have worked in construction since a child building houses with my family, and still keep an active renovation or construction project ongoing. I usually do my own electrical, framing, and even plumbing, but prefer the steel and woodwork. I just completed a lofted barn just in time for the first of my 4 children to have her wedding reception in. Now the barn is filled with my TT 300Zx and 1970 Mustang fastback, which I hope to tinker with when I stop engineering so much. My other interests include skiing (Snowbird every spring), Michigan salmon fishing, sportscar racing, and spending time with my family.
