• Architecture consulting and support on development of Information Exchange Gateway solution incorporating Palo Alto Firewalls, F5 DNS, McAfee Web Gateways, MailMarshal Secure Email Gateways and Watchguard XCSv MTA. The solution leveraged VMware vSphere and VMware vCenter technologies and included design, implementation, and support of classified virtualization infrastructure in a production environment. • Installed/configured ESXi on physical hosts, installed/configured VMware vCenter server, and hardening of all components following best practices. • Configured networks within VMware vSphere environment including distributed virtual switches, VLANs at server level, PortGroups, and subnets for virtual machine deployment. • Ground up involvement on classified virtualized solution to replace existing distributed production environment with 12 servers/2 sites. Gathered status of existing environment, architected, designed, implemented, and supported new infrastructure environment, deployed vSphere components, created appropriate clusters and configured components such as network, storage and backups. • Configured local/shared datastores within ESXi; mapped LUNs from the SAN storage system to ESXi servers; created VMFS datastores; configured multiple paths to the SAN within the ESXi HBAs. • Designed networking environment for site replication including local and remote VLANs, routing between VLANs, and subnet domains on each site. • Integrated NETapp SAN appliance to provide clustered backend to VMware ESXi servers. Used NETapp plugin for VMware for ease of SAN Management and Brocade Fabric switches to provide redundant connectivity. • Provided technical architecture/administration for network upgrade to Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 AD servers/services including multi-site Exchange 2010, DFS-R, WSUS, Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) and Web. Multi-site Exchange 2010 system consisted of Exchange 2010 Server at each site with replication occurring via Exchange 2010 Database Availability Group. Upgraded Group Policy Objects, configured new GPOs to apply updated settings to upgraded Windows 2008 R2 servers and enterprise Windows XP/7 workstations, and created GPO templates for hardening systems (configuring security, disabling unused services, establishing security protocols). • Installed, managed and maintained VMware ESXi virtual servers. Configured ESXi networking including virtual switches, VLANs, PortGroups, and subnets for virtual machine deployment. • Architected, tested, deployed and supported upgrade of existing centralized enterprise Symantec Anti-virus 9.0x services to Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.
