Developing Clinical Research at STH NHS FT by supporting grant applications, ensuring meaningful Patient and Public Involvement in the research design, and identifying opportunities for collaboration. Monitoring research activity within the Trust through a metrics-based performance framework that is closely aligned with NIHR objectives and metrics. Key responsibilities • Oversight of the Public Involvement panels and forums at STH NHS FT. • Implementing national policies for Public Involvement within STH NHS FT. • Providing Public Involvement training for early career staff and patients/public. • Communicating Public Involvement opportunities to panel members and staff in an accessible way. • Work together with NIHR infrastructure hosted by Sheffield to share best practice, work efficiently, and avoid duplication in Public Involvement activities. • Organise events to promote public involvement and staff engagement in research. • Identify relevant funding opportunities and grow the quality and quantity of high-quality grant applications. • Create opportunities for collaborations with the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University through events and workshops. • Create transparent review processes for internal funding schemes. • Operational lead for the Performance & Operating Framework, a metrics-based system for assessing research activity within clinical departments and how funds are distributed.

This included finding GP practices to participate in these research studies, monitoring recruitment, assisting with study setup (e.g. submitting documents for Local Research governance Approval, discussing options for recruitment strategies etc.). Leading and completing Site Initiation Visits with GPs. Developing methods for managing large amounts of information (e.g. Making processes more efficient, developing spreadsheets, presenting data in new ways) Acted up as Locality Manager for final six months within this role.
