As the Head of HS2 for Openreachr, I awas responsible for working with our suppliers to produce quotes/proposals, surveys, and plans, against client requirements for site delivery. This included but was not limited to producing quotes and high-level project plans across multi-site non-contestable delivery.My communications strategy included holding our construction teams, joint ventures (business process outsourced), Highways England, HS2 Ltd, Department for Transport & internal labour teams to account in their responsibilities which included challenging targets set by myself as the Head of HS2. I owned the route wide delivery of the £101m network rearrangement programme for HS2 Ltd Phase 1, owning the operational delivery, development and execution of projects, contracts, bespoke infrastructure solutions, network rearrangement and repayments. I established highly constructive working relationships with external stakeholders, transforming how we manage traffic management, street works and wayleaves and driving a ‘can do’ delivery style that is customer centric. I lead my business unit through transformation, informing commercial decisions and protecting the sustainability of the business unit. My role involved skills such as being a commercial thinker and a strategic engagement lead with continuous improvement at the heart of my work which I lead on for network rearrangement.
