Tonejet is a powerful digital printing technology designed to meet the needs of the worlds largest global print market, the packaging sector, where image quality, cost, reliability and productivity are critical factors. At the centre of the Tonejet print engine is its ground-breaking electrostatic drop-on-demand deposition technology that enables high-quality print on virtually any type of substrate at high speed.I was part of the team that took Tonejet from concept to first product. This included developing the technology from first principles, leading a team that established the printhead fabrication processes and facilities required for manufacture and then integrating these heads into Tonejet’s first product, a digital beverage can printer, that was installed in a beverage can factory in Germany.

I was a post-doctoral research associate funded by a European Union Basic Research Action project working with groups in Paris, Toulouse, Cork, and Exeter. I worked on the physics, fabrication, and measurement of 'artificial atom' and surface acoustic wave semiconductor devices.
