I am responsible for assisting in the fulfilment of CASAC's strategic goals by developing and executing a research agenda focusing on law reform, public interest litigation, advocacy, public education, parliamentary engagement and media awareness.

I am currently an editorial assistant for a forthcoming publication called "South African Constitutional Law" under the chief editorship of advocate Jason Brickhill to be published by Juta.

I was responsible for:Preparing analytical summaries of written argument or evidence and assessing arguments in the light of case law and legal literature;Conducting detailed research on particular topics;Preparing pre-hearing chronologies, memoranda, media summaries and opinions as well as identifying key issues in pending matters;Assisting my Judge in Court, case-calling and ensuring that the oral hearings take place with propriety and efficiency;Taking detailed notes of oral argument;Assisting my Judge in Court-related work such as committees, organisational work and international human rights work;Cite-checking draft judgments before delivery;Taking part in clerks' committees;Assisting with the administration of Court papers and case management; andHelping my Judge with extra-curial activities such as preparing public lectures and speeches.Skills During my time at the Court I have acquired and refined the following skills: Knowledge of, and the ability to apply, legal principles, concepts and procedures;Familiarity with and experience of legal research tools, including electronic sources;Excellent language and writing skills;Computer literacy;Analytical skills;Drafting skills, including being able to write clearly and concisely under pressure;;Ability to plan work and manage conflicting priorities under pressure; andAbility to work both independently and in a team.
