This project included elevating approximately 2.3 miles of railroad tracks; construction of two permanent double-track railroad bridges (Grade Separations) at Empire Ave and Buena Vista with provisions (abutment & piers) for one additional future track at Buena Vista Street passing over two four-to six lane streets and associated approaches; Dan was involved with construction of railroad detour (shoofly track) and signals; temporary at-grade crossing at Buena Vista; all required grading to abandon and backfill the gap at the depressed portion of San Fernando Blvd up to the existing ground level, and permanent closure of San Fernando Blvd to facilitate the construction of the railroad work.
