Dog Owner/Trainer/Handler, ParkerPup. Parker (2007-2020), golden retriever, was listed #4 in Life+Dog Magazine's "50 dogs who are changing the world." Parker lost his life to cancer January 2020.Today Gill, Parker's "little brother," volunteers as the 4-legged half of a therapy team at Kaiser Westside Medical Ctr, Legacy Home Hospice. Washington Co Jail & Washington Co Youth Services (incl Juvenile Court). Gill is on the Cascade Canine Crisis Response Team and Washington Co Sheriff's Office K9 Crisis Response Team. We visit other health care facilities, schools on request, to provide animal assisted therapy and educate children about dogs and the roles dogs play in life (eg therapy dogs vs service dogs).Gill and his younger "brother," Walter, strive to raise cancer awareness, and participate in fundraisers for the Morris Animal Foundation, American Cancer Society and other cancer research organizations.Parker was known as "Wonder," the mascot for KGW Channel 8's Great Toy Drive (2016-2019). Parker, and his older "sister," Daisy, were in a Disney Special on Animal Planet. Parker and his "siblings" were on national news telecast about 2014. He appeared in a variety of print ads: Target, TempurPedic, Norm Thompson, Pendleton Woolen Mills, Sentry Petrodex. He has appeared in commercials (local Subaru dealership, Wave Broadband, VADIO), on the Big Screen in Times Square for Purina Dog Food, Vanity Fair, LIFE+DOG, music video (Pennan Brae).Parker was in live theater (Theater in the Grove production of "Annie," Forest Grove, OR; Stages Performing Arts Youth Academy's production of "Cheaper by the Dozen" and "Belles on Their Toes," Hart Theater, Hillsboro, OR. In 2019 Parker was in three musicals, "Legally Blonde" at Glencoe HS and at Theater in the Grove, and "Annie" at Sherwood Center for the Performing Arts.Gill was an "understudy" for Parker in 2019, but will begin performing on stage later this year at Hart Theater.

Original member of the Task Force which designed, implemented, and revised Oregon's Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) form. POLST is a medical form you may use to help ensure your wishes for treatment near the end of life are converted into medical orders. The Oregon POLST served as a model for states throughout the nation, The "National POLST form," and in other nations.

Helped develop background check process for Department of Human Services utilizing the Oregon State Police Law Enforcement Data System (this process started long before 2001). Supervised operations (staff of 17) of the newly formed Unit, beginning in 2001. The Unit conducted criminal and protective service background checks on Department employees, long term care facility licensees and employees, EMTs, child care providers, adoptive parents, foster home providers, mental health facilities, etc.

Provide consultation and training to staff and long term care providers regarding state and federal requirements. Develop state policy and Oregon Administrative Rules. Facilitate dispute resolution between facilities, residents, families and staff relating to payment, resident rights, behavioral issues and involuntary transfer. Coordinate informal conferences and hearings. Develop and monitor interagency agreements. Program and fiscal analysis of proposed legislation. Develop, implement and provide training on new criminal history clearance requirements for all long term care providers. Agency contract administrator.Oversee Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) registration program, coordinate CCRC Advisory Committee.

Supervise sanction program, complaint investigations and rule development. Supervise survey teams for nursing facility, home health, hospice and hospital surveys for licensure and certification. Interview, hire and conduct performance appraisals and disciplinary actions. Plan, assign and approve work assignments. Sanctions program included license revocation, Medicaid certification termination, civil penalties, trusteeships, admission restrictions, mandating outside consultants, referrals to professional licensing boards and letters of reprimand. Develop and monitor contracts.

Plan and implement basic and advanced life support systems in 18 Eastern Oregon counties.
