Dan McGee is the Investment Manager at the American College of Surgeons, responsible for directing the College’s investment program of over $600 million. This includes an endowment with significant exposure to private investments and hedge funds, and defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans.Located in Chicago, Illinois, the American College of Surgeons is a scientific and educational association of surgeons that was founded in 1913 to improve the quality of care for the surgical patient by setting high standards for surgical education and practice. The College currently has approximately 93,000 members, including more than 4,000 international, making it the largest organization of surgeons in the world. Dan joined the College in 2000 as a financial analyst and was appointed investment manager in 2007. He works closely with the investment subcommittee of the College’s Board of Regents, partners with sophisticated investment management organizations, and serves on the employee benefits committee.Dan is responsible for all treasury functions including cash management and forecasting, and managing relationships with banks, investment managers, consultants, custodians, actuaries and auditors. In addition, he is the tax director overseeing the tax filings for six College entities. Prior to joining the College, Dan held various financial positions in corporate, non-profit and hedge fund companies. Dan has an undergraduate degree in business and a graduate degree in finance.
