Former Senior Investigating Officer in Greater Manchester Police and Head of Investigative Training Unit. I was also employed by NPIA as the National Programme Manager for the Professionalising Investigation Programme (PIP) responsible for the successful delivery a major business change programme to the Police service of England and Wales. LatterIy I was employed by the IPCC as a Senior Investigator in a historical corruption inquiry.Specialties: The conduct and management of major investigations including reactive and proactive policing investigations. I have considerable experience of both conducting investigations and managing productive teams of investigators on homicide, major drugs investigations and corruption enquiries. A former member of the ACPO National Investigative Interviewing Steering Group, with an interest in suspect and witness interviewing. I helped to improve the standard of victim and witness care in Major Crime enquiries by improving the interviewing capabilities and resilience of investigative staff within Greater Manchester Police.I have written ACPO practice advice and guidance on investigation and interviewing. I also worked with Skills for Justice to create the National Occupational Standards for Investigators and Investigative managers.As an independent consultant I provide advice on investigation, investigative standards and training loss prevention and decision making to improve efficiency.
