I am an advocate. I was that student who would “translate” for the teacher. There were many times when they would explain something, and it was obvious to me that a fellow student didn’t understand. I would take it upon myself to try again in a way that I thought would better resonate. Explaining the origin of a data error to a customer with little technical experience can be daunting for some, but that is something I do every day. In the language of marketing, this is simply understanding your audience. Everything I write or create, from professional development campaigns to complex analyses, I do so through the lens of knowing who my recipient is and their expectations, so I can best deliver results. It has worked well as I have consistently received positive feedback from stakeholders and customers regarding my work.I create strategic content. My previous role as the Associate Director of Professional Community Programs required a good deal of marketing and communication to disseminate information about the programming I created and promoted. Having consistently worked on multiple campaigns a year to cover at least 32 tentpole objectives, I know that each project requires a different approach. No two projects are ever the same and neither are my methods as to how to market them, but they all maintain a similar vision and brand. I have written blogs, articles, and emails; created videos, interviews, and taken photos. My mental hat rack has more than a few selections to choose from, thanks to my experience juggling multiple projects at once with a good sense of prioritization and consistent messaging.I am a storyteller. I am a self-starter and avid learner by necessity. My love of storytelling has directly affected my work in this regard. I write novels in my free time and have often used storytelling practices to guide my promotional endeavors. My stories, "The Rites of Hospitality" and “More Than a Name,” won silver honorable mention and honorable mention in the Writers of the Future Q2 2020 and Q1 2019 competition respectively. My stories, “Collectible” and “Blood and Stone”, have been published by Grayhaven Comics. I also write the yearly “Best of TV” article for the Ryder Magazine.
