Business advisory for the Finance function.

I managed a team of eleven Chartered Accountants who acted as CFO's to the Group Capital, Long-Term Issuance, Securitisations, Pensions Risk Management, Liquid Assets Portfolio and Short-Term Funding businesses within LBG's Treasury division. Primary responsibilities covered quarterly forecasting, annual stress testing (PRA and internal), monthly management reporting to Senior Management and the GEC, along with ownership of the key statutory disclosure notes relating to these business areas. Our purpose was to deliver fast and insightful analysis to steer business decisions and strategy. Other responsibilities included being the FP&A MI lead for the Treasury Division, sitting on the Group FP&A Steering Committee determining the MI strategy. I wrote business cases and received Executive sponsorship to run an FP&A accelerator program within Treasury to showcase the future of Group FP&A MI as part of the longer-term £3bn Group Transformation Strategy.In the broader Treasury division, I sat on the ESG Working Group focusing on how our colleagues could improve their environmental impact and was a champion of cultural awareness running workshops at a team level on better understanding of colleague backgrounds, personal interests and what’s important to each of us. This was a great enabler for an open and supportive workplace.

My roles included:Project managing the move of Treasury Financial & Product Control to EdinburghBuilding a Technical Finance Partnering team to work on new transactionsManaging the financial migration of c. 50 legal entities to segregate them from the core Retail Banking operations as part of Ring-Fencing regulations.Setting up the legal entity management reporting and cash management functions for LBG Holdco and the Equity Investments Group

I ran a team of six supporting the Securitisations business with responsibility for preparation and ownership of the monthly P&L and Balance Sheet reporting, Balance Sheet reconciliation, controls and ownership and the preparation of annual Statutory Accounts for c. 35 complex legal entities.Successes included improving team engagement, embedding a culture of learning and development and a significant turnaround in team deliverables / deadlines being met.

Key projects included:Commercial Bank Finance - Organisational Restructure: I planned and managed the set-up of the Commercial Bank Finance Centre of Excellence. Working closely with Senior Management, HR and union engagement, sensitive communication, ensuring best possible outcomes for displaced colleagues and the transfer of c. 100 FTE roles from London and Bristol to Edinburgh.Product Control Simplification: I acted as programme manager reporting into the Senior MD / Exec, overseeing all aspects of change / improvements across the department.P&L and Balance Sheet Explain: I ran a team responsible for the full-rebuild of the Finance Infrastructure used to report and explain the Groups Money Markets business. This project was very high profile due to regulatory concerns around the control’s infrastructure, reporting directly to the Commercial Bank Executive Team on a monthly basis.
