SafeSide provides suicide leadership consultation and workforce education for health, mental health, educational, and governmental organisations in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, US, and UK.

I am completing my final year of my Masters of Social Work at Griffith University at Eurobodalla Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS). We work as a multi disciplinary team and provide assessment, therapeutic intervention and case management for children and adolescents with serious mental health issues.

Coordinate and manage clinical supervision services and psychological services delivered by BoysTown at various sites in South East Queensland, South Australia and western Sydney. These sites provide a diverse range of services including:• Employment, education and training programs for youth and young people;• Face to face psychology services; • Domestic violence services (including a refuge);• Homeless accommodation services; and• Parenting programs.My duties and responsibilities include:• Ensuring that BoysTown’s duty of care obligations are met; • Joint line-management responsibilities for a team of 10 Clinical Practice Supervisors;• Line management of BoysTown’s psychology service which provides psychological services to BoysTown’s Employment, Education and Training division;• Providing clinical input and leading the consultation, development and review of practice related documentation, policies and procedures;• Developing and delivering clinical training for BoysTown staff and managers• Acting as Manager Clinical Practice (when required).

Providing clinical supervision to BoysTown’s frontline staff including Kids Helpline telephone, web and email counsellors, employment consultants, youth workers and youth trainers.Designing and delivering training relevant to organisational needs with respect to clinical practice. I delivered the following training modules:o Self Harm;o Working with Trauma;o Responding to Child Abuse;o Duty of Care; o Self Management and Resilience;o Case Management and Case Notes; ando Managing Challenging Behaviours. Contributing to the development of BoysTown’s policies, procedures and other documents requiring clinical input.

As a Service Options Coordinator with LWB I was primarily responsible for recruiting, training and supporting foster carers of young people in care with complex and extreme needs. My role included:• ensuring young people in care were appropriately matched with foster carers;• providing support and supervision to foster carers including 24 hour on-call support and home visits;• ensuring foster carers were trained in and complied with LWB’s policy and procedures;• overseeing and ensuring compliance with the assessments for carer approval;• providing ongoing training to foster carers;• responding to placement breakdowns;• liaising with the Department of Child Safety;• advocating for carers and young people in care with the Department of Child Safety; and • attending to administrative matters such as ensuring carers received their payments and reimbursements.

In the role of Care Coordinator, I was responsible for the development and implementation care plans and the coordination of the wrap-around system of support for young people in care. I developed significant case management experience in my role as a Care Coordinator. I assessed care needs, strengths and risks for young people in care and oversaw risk management strategies and coordinated youth worker and clinician support.

My role as a counsellor was to provide child-centered counselling support to children and young people aged between 5 and 24 over the phone, via web and/or email. During this role I developed skills in several areas of counselling and therapeutic intervention including: • Risk assessment and crisis intervention skills for young people at risk of suicide, homelessness and child abuse.• General counselling of young people about any issue facing the client. My counselling framework includes the use of several therapeutic paradigms including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solutions Focussed and Narrative Therapy. • Delivery of case management services to clients who present with complex needs and required integrated support between external agencies.
