I was a military man from 1993 to 2018 and an EOD technician from March of 2002 until my retirement from Active Duty in May of 2018. I have worked in all functional areas of Air Force EOD units including Operations, Logistics & Munitions, Training & Quality Assurance and Flight Management. For six years I was the senior EOD technician at the 301st EOD Flight. I have had a hand in all aspects of establishing an EOD unit, from Explosive siting ranges and establishing training and QA programs to implementing emergency response operations and coordinating planning and preparation for a Military Construction project. I have also coordinated numerous training events with Federal, State and local Bomb Squads, to include a role in the Raven's Challenge X exercise held in Mineral Wells Texas in the spring of 2016. Over the course of my career I deployed a total of nine times. Four of my deployments were combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. During my career I personally dealt with over 100 IED incidents and hundreds of ordnance incidents including the successful disposal of a 500lb Russian FAB-250TS bomb located in the middle of an Afghan village. I also participated in Partnering operations helping to train Afghan personnel in principles of IED defeat and tactical operations in a high threat environment.
