Like many people, early in my adult life I fell into many of my jobs because it paid but hoping that it might lead to something I was interested in. 2008 was a very rocky year for my employer at the time and it ended right before Christmas starting me on a path that gave me an opportunity to choose a career correction in my life. I had been in Electrical Engineering, Microsoft Server and Network Administration, and Purchasing over a 10 year period and now had opportunity to look at my experiences and pick something else ... something I would enjoy. Not many are afforded that type of choice. That opportunity lead me to choosing to be an Database Administrator. For me it combined my IT skills with my ERP user experience. My decision to chose this path was as much a spiritual decision as it was anything else. I have not looked back and enjoy this line of work every day.It started with going back to school and then rolled into a great opportunity working for a DataCenter and ERP/Applications services provider. With dozens and dozens of customers and hundreds and hundreds of database servers with varying products and versions I have been on a fast track learning course. My sink or swim experience has brought me into developing a strong skill set in Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server. Over the past two years I've even had opportunity to build and manage in the Azure cloud space. I value opportunity to grow professionally and intellectually.
