After 27-years in law enforcement working patrol, narcotics, violent crime and anti-human trafficking, I still think we can make our community and our country a better place by helping victims and leading by example. During my career with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and as Sergeant for the Human Trafficking Unit, while also supervising the enforcement side of the Missouri Attorney General’s Office Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, I established one of the most robust anti-human trafficking programs in the country, alongside many fantastic colleagues. Together, we made Missouri one of the leaders in the fight against this horrifying crime that affects all communities and all people, no matter what color or socio-economic status. Upon retirement I wanted to continue this effort in an even bigger and more impactful way, so I co-founded the Human Trafficking Training Center, an education and training organization that travels domestically and internationally to train law enforcement, victim advocates, hospital staff and administrators, and corporations and other private sector players how to combat human trafficking. Education and training is the foundation of our fight, and we have the best training in the world. Attendees from our programs leave our training and within days, sometimes even hours, arrests are made, and victims saved.

Dan was a Missouri State Trooper, for 27 years, with 24 of those years spent in the Criminal Investigative Bureau. During this time frame, he worked in three different units and investigated narcotic/vice crimes, violent crime, and human trafficking. Dan was a Sergeant in the Human Trafficking Unit and the enforcement supervisor of the Missouri Attorney General’s Office Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force. Dan has conducted and supervised hundreds of human trafficking investigations and conducted human trafficking trainings in numerous states. Dan created the Special Victims Methodology for investigating human trafficking cases which is being used by many law enforcement agencies around the United States. Dan has spoken at many conferences on human trafficking and has been passionate about improving the anti-trafficking program within law enforcement and the community since 2011.
