Apache Kafka and Streaming Platform advocate. Streaming data and micro services are my main interests, concentrating on the Confluent ecosystem (Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, KSQL, Schema Registry, Avro) with some exposure to Apache Flink also.I'm currently introducing Kafka as a Streaming Platform as well as a Data Lake to enable and ingest events from micro services to provide low latency events to consumers across the business including Data Science. Prior to this, I spent three years architecting and supporting delivery of the next generation promotions and messaging platform at SB&G. I worked on all aspects of the solution from surfacing data sources on to Kafka, enriching that data, making decisions about that data and then fulfilment of free bets/spins/cash alongside customer notifications. Reducing end to end latency was a key focus here for unlocking business value and enhancing the customer experience on Sky Vegas and Casino.I see great value in the vision of the Streaming Platform at the enterprise level and the focus on events at the heart of this and I'm keen to promote this whenever I can. I love to attend a conference on these topics and have recently attended Berlin Buzzwords, Kafka Summit and Confluent talks.
