Barmouth viaduct is the longest remaining timber bridge in the UK, we are currently carrying out the largest repair project on the structure since the 1980’s when the structure was closed for several years.In this project we are replacing hundreds of timber structural elements across two phases, this consists of half of the crosshead beams, 120 diagonal timbers, 100 wailing beams, 220+ main spanning beams and 50 columns, working in two large blockades.My role is to run the main team on-site, planning and managing the logistics and programme onsite working around the weather and constant tidal change. I am responsible for site safety paperwork, temporary works, management of the workforce, liaison with senior management, client & subcontractors along with ensuring the works are met to design and quality management. We have a large 50+ team onsite daily delivering the works and almost 150+ per day during the blockade.

Pound Road Footbridge Reconstruction My role was developing all designs and documentation for a footbridge reconstruction over a disused railway in Wednesbury, including the review of all temporary works, lift plans and quality documentation. I also manage programme, client relations and the principle engineering onsite.Snow Hill Tunnel Repairs This scheme involved 130m2 of brickwork repairs including pinning and grouting, brick replacement and general repointing and installing 3 layers of spray concrete to the blind shaft to strengthen the capping. My role included preparing all of the paperwork from CPP to Quality and Safety documents.Primrose Hill Tunnel Shaft Strengthening On this scheme three number blind shafts were to be strengthened in a tunnel 2mile north of London Euston, this involved a very intensive use of resource both labour and on track plant. We utiilised core possessions over bank holidays and extended 16-hour ROR possessions. The confines of the site for compound and access were our biggest challenges having to organise resources in and around central London. We were working directly next to live running fast lines and OLE. My role on this project was to orgnaise all the safety and quality documents, ALO plans, staging diagrams and liaise with HS2, Network Rail and the many subcontractors and site team.

Northern Platforms Extension. In my final role at Amco I was seconded to the Wigan office working with a new team, this role involved much more people management skills working under a Project Manager I then oversaw a team of two Site Agents, three Site Managers and a full team of 40+ guys including supervisors, safety critical and operatives both skilled and general. The scheme was lengthening 4x Station Platforms across the Leeds region, each using different styles. The platforms varied from enhancing redundant platforms, constructing new blockwork platforms and also using steel frame and GRP sections on others.The role required lots of resource planning and liaison with the site teams and most important the client to ensure we hit the critical EIS dates for the Great Northern Rail Project.Shifnal Wesley Brook Retaining Wall. A new role I have taken up recently is CRE responsibilities for construction activities. This means I have started reviewing and signing permanent work designs, temporary work designs and methodologies created by other members of staff. Shifnal retaining wall is a river wall structure that due to erosion following a scour job in 2013 requires removing, scouring and an installation of a new gabion basket system. Here I have used value engineering in bringing in concrete style gabions which will reduce time of site & subsequent cost, risk and increased design life.Footbridge Strengthening Works & Parapet Upgrade. Further enhancing my CRE responsibilities, I was the Project Manager for two footbridge strengthening and parapet upgrade works along with being the CRE for these projects which requires the review and development of temporary works designs and their implementation onsite. My main duties however are liaising with the client, organising site documentation, programme, cost plans and implementing works onsite.

Haslucks Green Overbridge Reconstruction My role was organising, procuring and managing a bridge reconstruction, liaising between senior management, subcontractors, client & onsite team. I’m also responsible for the updating and modification of the project programme, cost plan & KPI’s. All site paperwork and client reporting is also my priority on a weekly basis ensuring the works are constructed to programme, cost and safely.Deans Green Underbridge. To assist the project team in closing the project out which consists of the removal of two hundred year old oak tree, ballast retention pile installation and reinstatement of highway verges.Oxford Canal Underbridge Reconstruction.To manage the engineering team during installation of the new precast cill units and steel U decks, this also consisted of visiting the fabrication yard and carrying out as built checks.Walsall to Rugeley Parapet Upgrade. To manage and oversee the planning, cost, supervision and overall works on 27 structures where the parapet walls need raising to the correct height, to allow for electrification of the line. My role included the production of critical paperwork from CPP to lift plans, liaising with the commercial team, subcontractors & organising the site team

RBS2/81 Birmingham Canal Underbridge. Two single span 25m length under bridges removed and replaced in one Easter blockade. My role was to help with supervision of the works including liaising between senior management and the subcontractors in a variety of disciplines from track, demolition, crane and canal waterways. I also ensured the bridges were removed and replaced as per the drawings and helped in the resolution of any engineering problems.BJW2/55 Walsall Tunnel/ Park Street. Engineer for two span bridge recon in the centre of Walsall town centre between M&S and New Look on the high street. Replacing the existing jack arch and insitu concrete deck that forms the high street with a new pre-cast deck, whilst keeping the railway open and access to all shops and passage across the bridge open at all times.My main roles were liaising & supervising subcontractors, the client, third parties and in house team to ensure the safe and on time delivery of the project in a logistical nightmare location. This also consisted of helping with programming of the works, cost plan exercises arranging orders and meeting with the local authorities. I also ensured the works were carried out as per the design and meet the relevant standards and codes of practice along with ensuring the bridge was landed in the correct position.I also assisted the designer in designing the highway positions and falls to ensure we had sufficient surface water runoff yet staying within standard falls, this consisted ofjust over a 1km2 area within very tight constraints of seven shops and a road junction.

This incorporated carrying out the as built surveys and compiling the hand back files for the client.Bridge Reconstructions SPC Electrification Scheme. Assisting with the delivery team in the installation of bridges on the Market Harborough to Kettering line. Comprising four con-arch structures two steel footbridges. My roles on site were the setting out and installation of the main precast units and highway alignment.Priority 2 Bridge Reconstructions Walsall - Rugeley Electrification Scheme. This involved the complete reconstruction of Broad Lane which comprised of the removal of a central pier, installation of abutment extension units and pre-cast box beams to form the new structure. Two further structures in Station Road and Walkers Rise, Hednesford were reconstructed with pre-cast con-arch concrete beams, abutment extensions and parapet units. I was part of the delivery team with my main roles being in charge of the daily setting out along with monitoring of track and structure throughout the project. This also involved writing Works Package Plans, Task Briefings and helping with other paperwork during high workloads.Impact Collision Beams. This involved the running and organisation of two sites simultaneously installing impact collision beams to either side of the bridge in Kings Langley & Wolverhampton. My main tasks were to ensure the safe running of both sites, all paperwork throughout the project from Construction Phase Plan to hand back documentation and liaising with Amco Commercial and Planning team, Client & Sub-Contractors.Walsall Platform 1 & Track Lowering. Setting out engineer for the modification works on platform 1 at Walsall Station over Easter 2015. This incorporated the installation of new coper/tactile units, drainage facilities and relaying of platform surface
