I have a deep love for Strategy, Operations, Project Management and Continuous Improvement principles which I use daily at Intermountain Health. My skill set has been developed from years of clinical care, self employment and working in the corporate world providing a unique perspective to address challenges faced on a daily basis. The ability to relate to and comfortably communicate with people of all walks of life on any given day comes with the territory of what I do, whether it is having a discussion with a caregiver about ways to improve, talking to a surgeon about a procedure or carrying on a conversation with a farmer, a mother, a CEO and everyone in between. Understanding that efficiency generally equals profitability and value has been key to my success. A few examples are listed below:The opportunity to improve access to healthcare by developing the playbook for Freestanding Emergency Departments (FSEDs) for Intermountain Health is rewarding. Taking two separate teams From St. George and American Fork Hospitals and bringing them together, along with their system leaders to create a new care delivery model that can be easily replicated moving forward has been an opportunity to demonstrate my leadership capabilities.It takes an awesome core team to manage a systemwide replacement of 342 ECG units with transition to a new user interface. A diverse skillset in resource management is helpful as we coordinate logistics and training for caregivers involved. Young leaders are seeing the opportunity to step up and contribute to project success as they learn and grow. Trust in our technical teams is a must as we watch the project schedule. I am looking forward to a successful go-live in March 2023.Covid-Testing provided a unique opportunity for my professional growth. Standardizing operations across 25 and then expanding to 65 testing locations to ensure a consumer-centric approach to testing was a challenge accepted. Identifying the right solution on our 3rd iteration that is still in use today is rewarding and validation that taking a continuous improvement perspective to identify waste and inefficiencies can be successful in any industry.
