ZincFive, Inc. is a private company in the renewable energy sector, offering innovative battery backup technologies featuring Nickel-Zinc chemistry, as well as hardware and software to monitor and efficiently control electro-mechanical equipment. The company provides uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for signalized Traffic Intersections and Data Center applications.As VP of Research and Innovation, I am responsible for the concept and design of new technologies that augment our product offerings as well as investigation and analysis of new and emerging technologies, chemistries and processes for our next generation of products and services.I accomplished successful research into high-power variations of our commercialized UPStealth battery backup systems in order to access new markets. I conducted research with Nickle-Zinc batteries investigating interesting characteristics of these cells that resulted in forward thinking designs for ZincFive.

Blue Earth, Inc. and subsidiaries was a comprehensive provider of energy efficiency and alternative/renewable energy solutions. Blue Earth's six divisions; Solar, Generators, CHP, Energy Management Services, Power Performance Solutions and Energy Power Solutions enabled customers to reduce or stabilize energy related expenditures and lessen the impact of energy use on the environment. The UPS technology spun out and formed EnSite Power, Inc. As Vice President of Research & Development, I was responsible for the ongoing support of our UPStealth product line as well as the research of new technologies, systems and components to improve the reliability, efficiency and robustness of our product offering. I accomplished the introduction of our new battery system and technology to over 50 city and state agencies as well as provided technical support and engineering support for the testing and validation of these new customers.

Millennium Power Solutions was a private company, incorporated in 2012, and based in Salem, Oregon. The company was the inventor and manufacturer of a new green battery backup technology replacing Lead-Acid battery technology for signalized traffic intersections. The new products created addressed 90% of the problems existing in the Lead-Acid battery technology. The problems are size, weight, life, maintenance,recycling and performance. Blue Earth Energy acquired Millennium Power in 2013. As Vice President of Engineering, my responsibilities were to move our discoveries in new battery technology and advanced battery control into a commercial product for the traffic industry. I accomplished the successful introduction of the UPStealth battery backup system into the traffic control market. This involved making presentations to local, state and federal agencies as well as speaking at traffic-industry conferences. I also provided application engineering for new customers who were installing the product for the first time.

PSI Acquisitions was a private company and the manufacturing company that founded the rechargeable battery technology. PSI manufactured and distributed intelligent traffic devices. Products included: cabinets, controllers, battery backup/power distribution systems, conflict monitors, cyber lock systems, prom modules, security access systems, and bike logic units. PSI was acquired by Millennium Power Solutions. My responsibilities were the design, testing and manufacturing of a new UPS battery technology and inverter/controller product. This new design was a significant departure from existing UPS solutions on the market and required a unique approach in providing stable and reliable down-stream power to critical traffic systems. I accomplished the testing and validation of a new battery chemistry – Nickel Zinc. I also was one of the designers of a revolutionary Battery Management System (BMS) for this new technology. I also designed the flexible battery panel that allows this new battery system to fit inside of an existing traffic cabinet. I was one of the architects for the new-technology UPStealth controller-inverter and the advanced power-loss detection systems used in that product.

Phillip-Sisson Industries was founded in 1999, a private company, and was based in Salem, Oregon. Phillip-Sisson manufactured and distributed intelligent traffic devices and was purchased by PSI Acquisitions. My responsibilities were product design, new product introductions, sales support, application engineering and CNC programming. I accomplished the introduction of several new products for the traffic industry. I was instrumental in the design and implementation of a post-911 Washington DC traffic coordination and security evacuation system that involved over 400 new-design traffic cabinets and electrical systems. I was also the designer of the emergency generator system and primary electrical circuits for traffic cabinet power backup in the central Washington DC corridors.

Supra Products is a manufacturer of real estate key access solutions and the first company to bring to market a computerized access control system designed to give realtors 24hr secure access to residential and commercial real estate assets. My responsibilities were to design, machine and manufacture prototypes and research tools for the real estate market. I worked closely with the design engineers and test facilities to ensure that the end product met the customer and market requirements. I also managed several high-volume product lines as a Manufacturing EngineerI accomplished the prototype, testing, and manufacturing requirements that were key to the introduction of several industry-changing access control products that revolutionized the access control industry and made Supra products a dominate player in the market.
