Professional Self: Dr. Dan Strasser (Pronouns: He/Him/His) is a Professor of gender and family communication in the department of Communication Studies at Rowan University. He has recently been promoted to Chair of the Department of Communication Studies. His research focuses on the formation and negotiation of gendered identities in multiple contexts, and explores the perceptions and performances of masculinities, family, and classed identities from queer performance, intersectional, and critical theoretical perspectives. His research utilizes qualitative methodologies, rhetorical analysis, and autoethnography to explore the areas mentioned above. Dr. Strasser teaches courses in gender communication, family communication, critical communication pedagogy, communication and masculinities, and communication theory. My Personal Self:I enjoy running, biking, the mountains, my morning coffee, yoga and meditation, reading, writing, cooking, yard work, remodeling our house, listening to and playing music, and spending time with my pup and partner. I’ve lived many lives before becoming a teacher-activist-scholar. I was a roofer, coach, cook, musician, bartender, janitor - just to name a few. I bring all of those experiences as well as my experiences of earning my two bachelor's degrees, one Master's degree, and my PhD to my classes. I am an open book.
