I work with pre-seed to late stage startups as a fractional CTO by doing everything from building their software to building software engineering teams. A few of my clients:- Seed level startup in the social media space bridging short form video content with food. I developed their initial software prototypes and architected the backend system design to handle up to 10 million users. I also recruited and hired a team of highly skilled software engineers, setup all of the SDLC, CICD, Automated Testing, and release infrastructure in the AWS Cloud.- Pre-seed level startup in the fintech space using automated tooling to assist crypto trading. I defined the SDLC and culture and recruited/hired the software engineering team. I also standardized their agile processes, hiring and engineering practices, and built the QA team,.- Series A level startup in the medical/health space easing patient access to EMRs. In this role I defined the engineering security practices, defensive coding techniques and acted as temporary CISO.

Koneksa is an early to mid-stage startup changing the way clinical trials operate, by building a platform for digital biomarker measurements. I built and led a team of 10 remote software engineers and leaders developing a SaaS product for the healthcare/clinical trial industry. While in this role, I overhauled team structure to increase focus and communication, resulting in significant efficiency gains. Introduced OKR Framework which brought teams inline with business goals and efficiency requirements. Implemented new agile processes, CICD operations, and additional test automation resulting in increased deployment frequency. Established team events that resulted in new tools and techniques that increased the organization's ability onboard studies. Restructured and/or Introduced code reviews, design reviews, and architectural standards, resulting in less quality churn. Worked with cross functional teams to establish priorities and release automation. Established regular 1:1 to mentor engineers and leads and built a competency framework to help individual growth. Orchestrated job shadowing and training programs between software engineers, QA Engineers,and DevOps to build individual skillsets.

Zywave is a late stage startup and the premier insurtech SaaS provider for the insurance industry, with SaaS offerings in all insurance bands in all channels.I built and led teams of 25 software engineers and engineering managers responsible for designing and building enterprise grade SaaS products for Insurance agencies and carriers in the Personal Lines, CPQ market.While in this role, I introduced a mission based culture which improved business alignment. Implemented performance metrics reporting resulting in significant increases in efficiency. Redirected team focus from Output oriented KPI's to Outcome oriented results.Initiated feedback cycles with executive leadership, leading to increase in estimate accuracy. Spearheaded coding best practices, code reviews, agile framework adoption, test automation, CICD / DevOps and security practices resulting in faster releases and a large reduction in defects. Presidio is one of the largest IT consulting firms in the US with services covering all aspects of IT. I was originally hired to help build a new service arm: to migrate on-prem customers and their custom applications to cloud native architectures. In this role, I built and led a team of 5 software engineers. Under my direction the team designed and developed a platform and technology agnostic migration framework resulting in a significant increase in revenue during the first year. I introduced agile development methodologies, code review, CICD processes, and test automations to the team and to the clients resulting in less defect churn and significant efficiency gains.When that organization matured, I moved to a new startup company under the parent company to build SaaS products for security monitoring. In this role I built and led a team of 5 engineers with cross functional disciplines including software engineering, DevOps, Security, and Product Management.Designed and developed initial prototype of the product. I led a team of 7 Senior software engineers as Team Lead. Responsible for leading Space Center web app conversion efforts. Designed, developed and implemented a large catalog of SaaS type applications within the NASA ecosystem supporting the center. This included (but not limited to):- Weather data real time tracking and archiving system- Software catalog for NASA Contractors- Congressional action tracking and enforcement system- Unified software API GatewayAlso a significant contributor to the development of Augmented Reality Environmental awareness heads up display/glasses for use in the next generation of space and SCAPE suits. I designed and developed several pieces of the system, including voice recognition, 3D UI components, automated tool/die/part displays, and two way camera feeds for user to user communication.Implemented modern DevOps practices, introduced containers and cloud technologies. Contributed significantly to Agile practice adoption. Mentored/coached other engineers in career/technology skills.
