As a Senior Tax Associate, I provided comprehensive sales and use tax consulting and compliance services to clients across a wide variety of industries. I reviewed summaries of state and local tax law developments for grammar and accuracy, searched for state and local tax developments to summarize, and conducted research to support my team.My research included compiling state administrative rulemaking processes, finding sources of state and local tax developments, and determining the effective dates of state legislation.

I was elected to this position at the end of my second year of law school. As the last person in the editorial chain to edit our articles, I was responsible for ensuring that our articles conformed to the Bluebook, the Texas Law Review Manual on Usage and Style, and our in-house rulebook. When these rules were insufficient to adequately cite an assertion, I collaborated with my co-Form and Style Editor and the Editors-in-Chief to create new rules. I also suggested changes to style, grammar, and argument strength. I answered staff questions about citation rules, grammar, and other law review-related issues. I also coordinated with our Associate Editors to address any issues with the article and meet our deadlines and expectations of quality. I earned an award due to my teamwork and excellent performance.

I supported my supervising attorney with drafting responses to pleadings in administrative hearing appeals, assisted subdivisions of the Department with their research needs, and learned about Arizona administrative law and gaming compliance. My research included summarizing and compiling nationwide cases dealing with illegal lotteries, sunset review compliance, and summarizing other states' boxing statutes and regulations.

I researched international laws and treaties, and wrote legal memoranda about my findings. My topics included live cetacean capture compliance with the Agreement on the Conservation of Cetaceans in the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and contiguous Atlantic area and the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic and North Seas, and Ghana's compliance with the wildlife trade requirements of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. In weekly meetings, I collaborated with my colleagues to brainstorm creative solutions for our clients' needs, and presented my findings. We also conducted simulated international negotiations and meetings. I developed international contacts to conduct my research, and prepared draft correspondence for my supervising attorney.
