ITSC Trommler enlisted in the Navy in August 2013 and reported to basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon completion of basic training he reported to Naval Submarine Base New London where he attended Basic Enlisted Submarine School (BESS). He continued his training in the Electronics Technician (Communications) rating pipeline, graduating Apprentice Technical Training (ATT), Tactical Computer and Network Operator (TCNO), and Radio “A” School (SCERF w/ WLR-8).In November 2014, he reported to USS RHODE ISLAND SSBN-740 (Gold) for his first duty assignment in Kings Bay, Georgia. While stationed onboard the Gold crew, he earned his submarine warfare qualification while completing two strategic deterrent patrols, three refits, one pre-deployment training period (PDTP), and one strategic weapons offload.In November 2015, he was advanced to Petty Officer 3rd Class while conducting a change of homeport for USS RHODE ISLAND “Green” crew to Portsmouth, Virgnia for a CNO availability maintenance period in Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY). He was advanced to Petty Officer 2nd Class in November 2016 after completing a strategic deterrent patrol with USS WEST VIRGINIA (Blue).In August 2018, he was assigned to USS RHODE ISLAND (Blue) crew and conducted a change of homeport to Kings Bay, Georgia was advanced to Petty Officer 1st Class that November. He completed a strategic deterrent patrol with USS MARYLAND (Gold) in October 2019. As part of blue crew, he completed three underway periods including DASO 29, and the crew’s first strategic deterrent patrol following ship re-certification.He reported to his current assignment as an instructor at Information Warfare Training Site Kings Bay in Kings Bay, Georgia in May 2020. In August 2022 he earned his Master Training Specialist (MTS) designation and now serves as the Leading Petty Officer, KOAM Course Supervisor, and NSVT Instructor. He was selected for Chief Petty Officer in September 2022.Chief Trommler is a graduate of University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), earning an Associate of Arts in Computer Studies and a Bachelors of Science in Computer Networking and Cybersecurity. He proudly wears multiple unit and campaign awards including the personally awarded Navy Achievement Medal (three times).
