Dan Tunstall is a Consultant: environment and development. Colleagues describe him as "I worked with Dan Tunstall on several different projects while I was at USAID (1999-2003) and he was a partner at WRI. But we worked particularly close together around the 2002 WSSD (World Summit on Sustainable Development) which occurred in Johannesburg South Africa, and on followup activities that started major public-private partnerships with the private sector, NGOs and other agencies focused on tropical forests, climate change, sustainability, poverty reduction, and use of GIS/RS and other IT technologies for monitoring environmental change and promoting good governance. Dan was a very capable and solid partner in all aspects, forward-thinking, competent, and knowledgeable in so many ways of how to make policy changes get translated into reality on the ground in Africa particularly. He was a true visionary and "can do" person that was also an absolute "good human being"--in every way. He will be missed in Washington and Africa--we need more like him!"
