Quickly developed an aggressive plan to address systemic maintenance issues and operational scheduling inconsistencies by working seamlessly and simultaneously across multiple echelons of command, with the maintenance community and with leadership assigned within the staff and ships. Attained 100 percent of basic and advanced certifications for all four ships for the first time ever and increased operational availability by 25 percent while supporting Fleet requirements in Southeast Asia. -- Directed and supervised day-to-day operational tasking, maintenance and financial oversight for a forward deployed U.S. Navy staff, four U.S. Navy warships in Japan and a helicopter detachment in Korea.-- Directly accountable for the effectiveness, welfare, and safety of a staff of 25 personnel which operationally employed and directed the day-to-day tasking of four Avenger class mine countermeasures ships comprised of 400 officers and enlisted Sailors and a two-aircraft helicopter detachment with 85 personnel in the U.S. Pacific Fleet area of responsibility. -- Fostered a command climate emphasizing professional development, procedural compliance and combat effectiveness resulting in the simultaneous basic and advanced phase certification of all four ships for the first time ever.

-- Responsible the safety of navigation of a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier and the day-to-day direction of six bridge watch teams and 18 Navigation Department enlisted Sailors with more than 97,000 nautical incident-free miles sailed and a seven month deployment completed during his tenure. -- Served as senior watch officer and skillfully coordinated all inport watch responsibilities for 2,900 officers and Sailors. -- His leadership and abilities were critical to the USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN 75) being awarded three consecutive Battle Efficiency awards during his tenure and his Navigation Department annually being awarded the Navy "White Wheel" for excellence.
