I help frontline teams improve how they work. To transform their work from chaos and firefighting to calm and predictable flow. For the last 12 years I’ve worked with thousands of staff at hundreds of workplaces across Australia training and coaching teams in Lean Principles and Frontline Leadership. I’ve seen amazing results (because we measure things), improved performance (because we set clear goals) and transformed people (because it all happens through people). Engaging with frontline staff from any background is my core strength. From scientists and engineers to pickers and packers, I treat everyone with courtesy and respect, and in return I find that every person genuinely wants to improve the way work is done. I’ve learned to respect the current state that exists at a company. No matter the pain, chaos or challenges they face. Acknowledging the past with courtesy and respect is the first step to accepting the reality that things need to change. I’ve also learned that while Lean Principles are amazingly effective, they must never be considered a generic set of tools that can be transplanted off-the-shelf. The journey from traditional thinking to Lean Thinking is unique to each organisation. My personal Lean journey is ongoing. I continue to read, research and study to find new ways to explore and analyse problems, and new techniques to improve process flow and reduce waste.
