I am a professional nuclear regulator focusing on reactor vessels and metallurgically aligned topics. Topics of focus include material degradation in the reactor coolant pressure boundary and reactor internals; pressure temperature limits; implementation of fabrication/repair processes such as welding, peening, and bolting; and non-destructive examination techniques including visual, ultrasonic, eddy-current, and surface methods. As a regulator I have worked on topics for both the operating fleet and new reactor applications. My academic experience includes the use of various types of ovens, furnaces, vacuum systems, and traditional metallographic preparation techniques and tools. In addition I have used and am familiar with SEM, AFM, EMPA, XRD, and optical microscopy. My computer based skills include Office products, Matlab, Mathematica, some experience in several programming languages, familiarity with hardware (system building, networking, basic maintenance and troubleshooting). I have spent some time using modelling and numerical techniques as well.
