About Dan Willard
I was born and raised on a small mid-west family farm. I quickly learned to be creative in problem solving and fixing things with little to no budget. Many experiences within the family and working for others gave me the ambition to create a very successful business of raising and selling livestock, fully funding my pursuit of a mechanical engineering degree from the UofMN. My professional career has been extremely rewarding. I started as a process engineer focused on high volume precision manufacturing. Strong success paved the way to process development and product development assignments, netting four US patents and many accolades. After a 16 yr tenure, a move to Seagate Technology further advanced my professional career, from innovating new concepts to bringing them to volume production release.I have enjoyed many technical project management positions throughout my career. My experiences have taught me many things, including the following:- I can align and lead global cross-functional teams with solid vision, communication, motivation, and energy to drive projects to an efficient and successful completion.- I can place the customer at the center, establishing great relationships and respect, and have a track record of growing market share and enabling revenue growth.- I can successfully manage risk and exercise creative problem-solving skills to keep projects on schedule and within budget.I never tire. I continue to enjoy all aspects of my career and balance it with a very rewarding personal life. I have enjoyed raising our three sons, coaching youth sports for 20 years, and training / competing in long distance triathlons. I thoroughly enjoy hiking, fishing, road biking, swimming, running, weightlifting, water & XC skiing, cooking, baking, handyman repairs, auto mechanic, ... and gathering with friends and family.Life to date has been an awesome ride.
