I currently lead a team dedicated to developing our CFD simulation environment and high-performance computing architecture. We focus on delivering compelling user experience, an open API ecosystem, CPU/GPU computing and making CFD simulation capabilities available in the cloud.

Development of ANSYS multiphysics coupling and co-simulation solver technologies. I worked with the ANSYS System Coupling team to steer architectural changes, prioritize and review project plans, technical mentoring and implement solver coupling technology. Projects included automated partitioning of physics solvers, replacement of RPC infrastructure, load manager support, high-order interpolation, interface/API design for integration of solvers into the coupling solver (Fortran/C/C++ and Python), Functional Mockup Interface (FMI 2.0) and parallelization of all mapping and interpolation capabilities.

Provided CFD simulation software development management and leadership in the Ansys Fluent project team. Planned and developed unsteady solver and post processing performance improvements, and improved solver robustness by porting several Discovery AIM Fluids solver capabilities into Ansys Fluent.

Provided technical R&D leadership and project management for the solver team delivering fluid flow, heat transfer and turbulence simulation capabilities in the Discovery AIM multi-physics environment. Built a brand new Python/C++ platform and development processes from the ground up that facilitated the implementation of all physical modelling capabilities required for AIM, and released the new computational fluid dynamics solver focusing on speed, robustness, ease of use and accuracy.

CFX was acquired by ANSYS early in 2003 and my role changed. I provided technical R&D leadership and management of the ANSYS CFX CFD solver development team for releases CFX-5.6, CFX-5.7, CFX-5.7.1 and CFX 10.0. The multi-national team was located in Canada, United Kingdom, Germany and the United States.In addition to the the new role, I continued to contribute to the development of simulation capabilities in the areas of architecture, testing frameworks, high performance computing, turbomachinery simulations and multi-phase modelling.

As part of a multi-national team, I contributed to building CFX-5 into what is now ANSYS CFX. The project merged several key technologies from computational fluid dynamics flow solvers CFX-4, CFX-5.1, UNCLE and TASCflow into a brand new solver released at CFX-5.4. The new solver platform provided the foundation for development and release of physical modelling capabilities required to build the CFX CFD business. I contributed to R&D for new capabilities in the areas of software architecture, high performance computing, turbomachinery simulations and multi-phase modelling for three additional software releases CFX-5.4.1, CFX-5.5 and CFX-5.5.1.
