Dr. Dan Wolfson is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in New York City who works individually with teens and adults, guides couples and families towards strengthening their relationships, and builds communities of support for children and adults who have experienced loss.In addition to his therapy practice, Dr. Wolfson is the Mid-Atlantic region Clinical Director of Experience Camps for Grieving Children, a non-profit organization for children who have experienced a significant death-loss. Prior to launching Wolfson Therapy, he was a supervising Staff Psychologist at Rennicke & Associates in downtown Manhattan, and an adjunct faculty member at the NYU Center for Counseling.Dr. Wolfson completed his postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University's Center for Complicated Grief, where he developed expertise in the highly effective modality of Complicated Grief Treatment (CGT), while conducting research and providing bereavement training to mental health professionals. He has also pursued advanced training in the relational, attachment-oriented models of Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).Over the past decade, he has provided therapeutic services in schools, colleges, and community mental health centers, and led professional workshops around topics including grief, workplace dynamics, and childhood social/emotional functioning.Dr. Wolfson is an advisory board member for the grief resource company Lantern, a featured author and advisor to the website Modern Loss, and his work has been featured in local and national media outlets including ABC, Today, The Huffington Post, Fatherly, Vice, and more.
