Qualla Java Café is a specialty craft coffee shop. At Qualla Java we roast our own Free Trade, Organic coffee, sourced from several different regions in Colombia, though mainly from the region of Tolima. We love coffee. I oversee the day-to-day operations and keep the organization moving towards a more environmentally sustainable footprint.

Develop relationships with Native American Tribes, land trusts, and grassroots conservation organizations to create the best conditions for Tribal Environmental Knowledge to be utilized in climate change efforts, increase conservation of land, rivers, and oceans. Manage time and payment for consultants. Developed organization documents, accounting policies, and financial controls.

I was the Associate Director, I filled in when the Executive Director was out of the office, which was quite often. I work to ensure the finances of the organization are in line with federal, state, and tribal laws regarding 501(c)3 organizations. I oversee invoices for work and contract done in coordination with our staff. I also work as part of a team of program officers to advise grantees, evaluate grant applications, and present grants to a Board of Directors for approval in the areas of cultural preservation, economic & workforce development, environmental preservation, and regional grants. We also interact with the local community to gauge the impact of grants on the quality of life for the people of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and western North Carolina.
