The Museum of the American Revolution's Civics and Citizenship Initiative supports Philadelphia's growing immigrant and refugee community to become U.S. citizens by offering a series of free workshops centered on teaching the civics and American history portions of the U.S. naturalization exam. Tailored workshops combine the Museum’s collection of objects, art and documents with inquiry-based discussion to provide historical depth and context to the 100 questions posed by the citizenship exam. New and aspiring citizens will be well prepared for the naturalization test--and for participation in a democratic society.

Taught courses in Constitutional Law and the United Nations in Global Affairs in the Political Science Department. Previously taught courses in Constitutional Criminal Procedure, Ethics and Criminal Justice in the Sociology Department between 1995-1998.

Greater Philadelphia Area

Conceptualized and directed global affairs programming for over 2,000 students of varying socio-economic backgrounds and learning abilities across the greater Philadelphia region. Cultivated strategic partnerships with public and private academic and cultural institutions, and worked closely with Philadelphia’s corporate and philanthropic communities to secure funding for educational programming. Developed a series of assessment and evaluation tools to analyze impact of various programs and teaching pedagogies.

Developed and taught Citizenship and Diplomacy in the Twenty-First Century, a one-semester course blending instruction in the structure, processes and principles of a constitutional democracy with a series of immersive learning activities designed to connect students to various aspects of civic engagement in a local and global context. Forged collaborative partnerships with media, cultural and academic institutions throughout the region.

Greater Philadelphia Area

Responsible for curriculum development and lecturing on various aspects of constitutional literacy. Designed and developed extensive array of educational outreach programs produced on the NCC website. Authored and edited a wide array of constitutional-related content, including lesson plans, essays and constitutional news stories. Project managed the design and development of online interactive exhibits, including the piloting of a digital web-based Interactive Constitution and Centuries of Citizenship: A Constitutional Timeline.
