As the transitional pastor and head of staff, I am leading Covenant through the following goals:1. Recent and Long-term HERITAGE: Help the Church with closure regarding the departure of former pastor(s) and other significant events in the congregation’s history.2. Help the congregation and its leaders discover and articulate their current identity, and discern their current and future MISSSION as part of the Body of Christ.3. Help the Church adjust to any shifts in structure, LEADERSHIP, and power, and review its ways of organizing and developing new and effective leadership.4. Help the Church affirm or renew its CONNECTIONS to the community, the Presbytery and the Presbyterian Church (USA).5. FUTURE: Help the Church move forward with confidence toward a "new beginning," and to prepareappropriately for the arrival of a new pastor, so that he or she might be welcomed with hope, grace, andenthusiasm.6. Assist in the development of short-range goals as identified by the Session.7. Work for a healthy and nurturing congregational environment that promotes personal and congregational growth, assures faithful witness to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, and demonstrates God's grace, mercy, and peace to the community and the world.
Senior Pastor
As the pastor, I worked to inspire, guide, and equip members of our community to be actively involved in their life of faith. This involved leading an ongoing strategic planning process for 26 organizational leaders. I facilitated 12 home gatherings during my first month to meet face-to-face with 166 members (roughly 1/3 of our church) and hear their dreams for this community. This had led to a renewed emphasis on developing and strengthening relationships with other organizations to partner together on issues like homelessness, food insecurity, health, and financial well-being in Henry County.• Trained and worked with 26 church officers to help them effectively lead the church• Managed and motivated 10 staff members, including recruiting and hiring• Promoted financial giving and oversee sustainable budget and spending practices• Adapted, expanded, and created opportunities for virtual connection during the pandemic (podcasts, daily Facebook and Instagram Live videos and interviews, Zoom meetings, classes, etc.)
Associate Pastor For Youth & Mission
As the Associate Pastor for Youth & Mission, I had the privilege of leading teams, organizing events and projects, and encouraging members to engage their faith through volunteering and partnerships with organizations at local, regional, and international levels. This included collaborating with our mission team to design a new project that brought in over 1,000 lbs. of donations for the local food pantry in four weeks. Following a conversation about community needs with local pastors, I built and promoted a new Clemson-area database to connect churches with local non-profits in order to provide secure, real-time data to organizations that provide assistance to people in need.
Director Of Youth Ministry
While working as a full-time student at Columbia Theological Seminary, I had the opportunity to put my education into practice as the Director of Youth Ministry at Covenant. During my time, I recruited and developed a team of volunteers for youth work and led a task force that successfully designed a new website incorporating social media. I also planned, directed, and facilitated a church-wide retreat for all ages in the mountains of North Georgia.
Director Of Youth Ministry
My first position in church ministry began shortly after selling my small business. While I discerned enrolling in seminary, South Aiken gave me the opportunity to work in a congregational setting. As the Youth Director, I established a church partnership with Schofield Middle School to mentor at-risk students. I also directed a summer mission trip to renovate the Waccamaw Youth Center in Conway, South Carolina.
Co-Founder And Ceo
As a sophomore, I co-founded a bookstore in my dorm room to make textbooks more affordable for students at Presbyterian College. Our success grew by leaps and bounds overnight, and by the time I graduated in May 2009, my company had just signed the contract to take over operations as the official bookstore for Presbyterian College. As CEO, I managed the daily operations, payroll, and inventory purchases for my company, serving 1,300 students in addition to a loyal alumni base and a supportive local community. I handled all major financial and administrative decisions with an annual revenue of $1,000,000 in our first full-year as the official bookstore, an increase of 15% over the previous company's record. I was responsible for hiring, training, and managing a staff of 12 employees, all of whom were students or graduates of Presbyterian College. I also sponsored a Build-a-Well campaign for Ethiopia and Malawi that raised $5,000 for charity: water. Throughout my time as a small business owner, I initiated programs to make textbooks more affordable for students, including a book rental option and working with professors to use previous (and much less expensive) editions of textbooks.
