Dana is the co-owner and founder of LEAPS Center. LEAPS Center is a learning support center that offers services to learners who have difficulties as well as gifted and talented needs. Services are preventive, corrective, and accelerated. LEAPS Center aims to holistically develop students’ skills to help reach their utmost potential through the LEAPS approach. The LEAPS approach focuses on addressing learners’ academic, emotional, physical, and social needs within a caring environment. Services are catered to learners ranging from two years of age and onward.Our goal is to constantly stimulate learners through a dedicated and highly qualified professional team, the usage of up-to-date materials, and the application of the latest strategies and techniques used in our rapidly changing world. Our aim is to provide a caring environment because we strongly believe that learners enjoy learning in an atmosphere of security and support within which confidence and self-esteem can be restored. Learners will acquire, master, and generalize skills that will help them as tools when learning new information. We strive to recognize the learners’ needs and cater to their individual requirements accordingly. Through clearly identified individual objectives, we shall cover all aspects of emotional, academic, physical, and social performance while promoting an atmosphere geared towards personal growth.

At Sagesse High School my job was to restructure the Special Education Department. With that we highered qualified staff and trained them to implement several strategies and techniques that help cater for children with learning difficulties. Furthermore, I trained the special education teachers in writing individualized educational plans (IEP), proper lesson plans, etc. I was also a part of the accreditation process with this school.

As Counselor for the Pre-School/ Elementary School, Dana was responsible for integrating a developmental school guidance and counseling curriculum for Nursery to grade six. Dana also worked with regular education students as well as children who receive Special Education services both in and out of the classroom setting. Areas such as social skills training, behavior modification, self esteem enhancement, PTSD, dealing with death, dealing with divorce, etc. were addressed.In addition to her daily work, Dana designed, wrote, and launched the first character education curriculum for Nursery to Grade six at CIS. She successfully worked closely with the homeroom teachers in order for the curriculum to be implemented smoothly.At the same time, Dana worked with the second grade as a special needs teacher, specifically supporting two students that had learning difficulties as well as having ADHD. More specifically, she worked with them during the English classes, where the reading difficulties that they had were addressed.

At Eastwood College, Dana worked with children in grades 1-2-3-5-7-9 and 12 covering a wide range of learning disabilities and giftedness. She worked as a resource room teacher as well as a support-in-class teacher. She also gave one-on-one sessions.
