This division of Ericsson developed high end processor based network edge routing equipment running vxWorks and NetBSD with line cards having ports ranging from DS1/E1, DS3/E3, OC3/STM1 to OC192/STM4 and 10/100 to 10G Ethernet. The latest generation router ran Linux with line cards having ports ranging from 1G to 400G Ethernet.- Worked from Engineering test requirements to develop production test plans, test stations, test scripts and test procedures.- Worked closely with Design Engineers on early design reviews, prototype builds and debug of those new products with test yield and failure feedback.- Worked closely with Software Diagnostic Engineers to validate diagnostic test coverage and offer feedback to improve test coverage and fault isolation.- Released and transitioned new product test software and test stations to the manufacturing floor.- Identified and assisted with the debug of design related failures found during production testing.- Trained production technicians at 7 different EMS sites to properly test and debug the products and reduce unnecessary component replacements.- Assisted with debug of bone pile boards to increase production yields and add to the technician’s knowledge of repairing difficult failures.- Worked with the Failure Analysis group on customer failures to the root cause. Concentrated but did not limit efforts to those failures that identified design or production related issues as the root cause to reduce customer returns.- Established specialized debug techniques to assist technicians in reducing debug and repair times.- Assisted in the design of test PCBs and mechanical assemblies to enhance test and debug efficiency.- Wrote functional test scripts in Procomm Aspect and constantly worked to improve script efficiency.- Wrote a major system level test script in Linux Tcl/Expect to power up, install OS, boot, initialize and test a fully configured production system router.

Company manufactured an early generation of network based file servers using Novell Netware and later Windows NT Server. PC interface was across Ethernet and Token Ring. Mass storage was on first generation of 5 1/4 inch SCSI hard drives.Responsible for development and maintenance of production test equipment and support of production test and debug training- Became an expert in the early generation of SCSI drives and drive testing. The testing exposed multiple issues with different vendor drives being used in the system. I was called to customer sites to analyze drive issues detected during actual customer usage.- Worked on the testing and redesign of a auto-ranging 115-230VAC input to 300VDC output power supply in the system. This improved reliability in the field which reduced customer returns of the unit.- Worked with Diagnostic Engineers to optimize a PC based test program to test at the system level.- Assisted in the development of an RMA repair and Failure Analysis group. Worked on a team with Sustaining Engineers, Software and Diagnostic Engineers to determine the root cause of serious customer failures.

Company manufactured Mini and Mainframe computer storage controllers utilizing 8 and 5 1/4 inch floppy drives and eventually the first generation of 14 inch 30MB hard drives.Started as a Test Operator and through extensive on-the-job training progressed quickly through production and RMA Technician to a junior position in Test Engineering.- Developed specialized debug techniques on the phase lock loop circuit of the disk controllers and significantly reduce the debug time on these failures.- Developed a design improvement to go from a tape reader input to an eeprom based reader input of the test programs on a piece of test equipment. This reduced the station initialization time by 75% and eliminated the problems of torn paper tapes and the overhead of rewinding paper tapes.- Developed early elevated temperature testing with active power cycling to induce infant mortality failures to reduce customer failures.- Maintained in-house GenRad ICT test stations for production testing.
