Civera invents technologies that enhance government transparency and strengthen public trust. Its offerings include ElectionStats, a platform for publishing and searching historical election results; Ballot Verifier, a solution for viewing, comparing, and checking the count of every ballot in an election; and Sunshine, a campaign finance dashboard with real-time activity tracking, search capabilities, and data visualizations.

Combining technology, systems design, and data visualization to explore our capacity for more intelligent, transparent, and equitable collective decision making. Questions of interest include -How might we enable a community to better understand and channel collective resources toward most valuable impact in a complex, changing system? -How might we design technologies that facilitate inclusivity, equity, engagement, and dynamism?Through theory and practice, I aim to enrich our collective toolset, re-examine balance of influence, and impact how information flows through systems and communities. I'm currently working with the Plural Connections Group headed by Nabeel Gillani, the CoMM Lab led by Brooke Foucault Welles, and the Burnes Center for Social Change headed by Beth Simone Noveck and am additionally affiliated with the Center for Communication, Media Innovation, and Social Change.

ProjectZen is a smart, agile collaboration tool. Combining sparse minimalism with infinite nesting, PZ enables teams to manage complexity while staying nimble. I designed and coded the entire end-to-end platform using Python (Django), JavaScript (Angular), MySQL, Google Cloud Platform, and other tools. I also conduct analytics, develop strategy, and engage in continual product development and maintenance. I also intermittently consult for several startups in data analytics, product design, and GovTech.

The ClearGov platform helps hundreds of local governments, from large cities to small school districts, better leverage and communicate civic and budget data to enable informed, fact-based decisions about resource allocation, economic development, and more. Focused on the Transparency and Charting tools, I worked to make critical intel accessible to ordinary people. This helps enable the informed engagement needed for better democracy and more effective leveraging of collective insights.

Pursued graduate study in Information Design and Data Visualization. In addition to taking courses in theory and practice, I led research in designing data visualizations for collective intelligence and civic engagement (graduated summa cum laude, M.S.).

Led various data science and AI initiatives across the company, including a multinationally award-winning machine learning-powered tool called LOGICcards, which was nominated Analytics Product of the Year 2016 (https://www.ukcloudawards.co.uk/) alongside Amazon's Amazon Machine Learning. It was also a finalist for Big Data, IoT or Analytics Solution of the Year 2016 (http://www.iteawards.com/). I also personally received the CompTIA ChannelChanger award for innovation in the IT space.

Mined, visualized massive data sets as part of the newly launched data team. Created value across the company using tools such as the Hadoop stack, machine learning, and interactive data visualization.

Collaborated on a project visualizing public sentiment surrounding the HPV vaccine using information from social media (Twitter). Assisted in coding media for a linguistic classifier script subsequently used to classify thousands of tweets by sentiment valence using natural language processing.

Analyzed, visualized diverse sets of statistical cognitive and physiological measures using MATLAB, Python, and SPSS for a study on facial emotion processing. Programmed scripts for stimulus presentation and data processing (Python, E-Prime).

Accepted after rigorous application into the 14th Annual Undergraduate Summer Workshop within the Institute for Research in Cognitive Science (IRCS), a 2-week program focused on cutting edge academic research techniques.

Mined and statistically analyzed data on speech comprehension and pronunciation using Python, innovating new methods of analysis and interpretation. Contributed to the resulting peer-reviewed publication by Dr. Eveline Geiser, Dr. Stefanie Shattuck-Huffnagel and Dr. John Gabrieli (MIT affiliates). Presented major findings at two academic conferences.

Assisted in fMRI scanning study subjects and evaluating results as part of a study investigating brain activity associated with processing music. Prepared auditory stimuli using MATLAB.

Developed software tools to mine and analyze search engine data for a project investigating the potential influence of online hacking and misinformation on voting behavior in the 2010 US Congressional Elections. Contributed to an associated paper and presented major findings at Brandeis University.

Organized and synthesized data for a study on rates of depression diagnosis among marginalized populations. Used Spanish language skills to assist participants struggling with written or spoken English.

Assisted visiting cognitive science researchers with carrying out studies in the museum. Wrote a literature review of selected cognition research. Educated the public in the science of child cognition.

Assisted in the marketing, finance, and graphic design departments.
