I have more than 34 years of executive experience in the nonprofit animal protection field, from organizational startup to program development and project management. I drafted and lobbied for the successful passage of state animal protection legislation. I managed our evacuation and disaster relief response during Hurricane Katrina and served as national organizational spokesperson for the agency during the aftermath. I have helped develop and implement multiple programs which have impacted the lives of thousands of animals across the state. The Humane Society of Louisiana is a licensed detective agency, specializing in cruelty investigation. We also work to expand the state's animal protection infrastructure to expand services for animals in need. We operate a variety of programs, including the TransPUPtation program to rescue shelter animals and transport them to loving homes up north. We aid animals in rural communities without shelters or rescue programs.
